There are a number of community tourism products across the country. We organize community tours to all parts of Ethiopia. You can contribute to community development efforts by visiting these naturally and culturally exquisite places.
Community tours can be conducted in the following destinations. Here are the highlights of the attractions and activities for visitors at individual sites.
Lake Ziway Short Boat Tour (Bird Island & Hippo Tour)
The Lake Ziway tour includes bird watching near the shoreline marshes of Lake Ziway, followed by a slow cruise around the nesting grounds of Tulu Simbero, which means Bird Island in the local Oromo language where you can find multitude of bird population of various kinds. Next visitors will journey across the golden lake to search out the lake's shy and elusive hippos. Since the hippos have a few favorite basking spots in the lake, the tour will varying depending on the time of year and the hippos habits.
The Tulu Gudo Island, on Lake Ziway which is rich both in nature and history has a suitable for hiking. The Island has also a unique history in connection with the original Ark of the Covenant believed to have been here some one thousand years ago, stayed for 70 years before going back to Axum.
The Lephis forest endowed with Natural forest, wild life and community camping facility for overnight stay in the tranquil forest and Bird setting, suitable for hiking and horse riding.
Lephis' diverse topography includes mountain chains, valleys, and glades with unspoiled highland forests bursting with unique flora and fauna. Known for its birds, Lephis is home to the near-endemic white-cheeked turaco and thick-billed raven, the endemic Abyssinia catbird, and the rare blue-breasted bee-eater as well as other endemic and near-endemic birds

The Dorze community is found in the southern Rift Valley, 37 kms off the road 5kms before reaching the town of Arbaminch. The drive to Dorze village is a climbing of over 2500 meters above sea level. The Dorze community is unique with their unparalleled craft making skill, their remarkably beautiful elephant trunk looking huts, and the local cuisine. The local community life the farming, the market day and its astounding scenery are worth visiting.
The Konso community Village tour and Cultural Dance Performance
Konso life revolves around the seasons and the harvest – and the inevitable feast which follows! These events – and others - are celebrated at key times of the year through lively and symbolic dances, and now the people of Gersale invite visitors to their village to learn about Konso life through these colorful performances.
Community tours in the south east of Ethiopia
Adaba Dodola forest community tours. Owned by Regional State forest enterprise, and used by the community around to benefit from its tourism potential. It is suitable for hiking and horse riding. The natural forest is of Juniper species and is one of the last packs of natural afro alpine forest in the country. The forest has a series of camps where one hikes from one point to another through truly natural environment. hiking from one camp to another takes about a half day and are between 10 and 20 km. Horses are available to carry your luggage

Guassa community tours is found in the in the north part of Addis Ababa. It has exceptional nature and wildlife product with community accommodation. Suitable for hiking and horseback riding Guassa is a home of the endemic mammals of Gilada Baboon and the Ethiopian Wolf. It has an accommodation for overnight stay and for individual and family visitors.It also provides an opportunity for viewing the local culture and daily life of the community.
Wonchi Crater Lake is a lake on a mountain that is 3386 meters high, it is indeed astounding. The community tour here offers boat riding, horseback riding with a beautiful rural setting,
Wonchi is partially surrounded by forest and mountain. you can find monkeys, apes and gazelles on this site. One can also find the natural hot springs. These hot springs are frequented by many people, as they are believed to have healing powers. There are two islands in the lake. In one of the islands there is an ancient church called Cherkos monastery.
Community tours in the north Ethiopia, known with a brand name called TESFA (In Amhara Wollo and Tigray)
Mount Abuna Yoseph provides visitors with an opportunity to trek into the higher areas of the afro-alpine mountains. Highlights of this mountain trek include giant lobelia plants, large troops of Gelada baboons, and a small pack of Ethiopian Wolves. As it is in the vicinity of the renowned Rock hewn churches of Lalibela, one can combine the visit. The trek provides close contact with the culture of the local people and their daily life activities.
